Largely self-taught, Kaeridwyn has explored puppetry with Gyre & Gimble, Tamara Unroe and Maggie Winston. Puppets, large and small, bring a delightful sense of child-like joy and wonder to puppeteer and audience alike.
DINah the dragon - Harrow
Dinah the Dragon was built for a community parade with the Balkan Village Band in June 2022, in partnership with the Harrow Arts Centre. Designed by Kaeridwyn, her head and spikes were papered and painted in community workshops. Some workshop participants also puppeteered and accompanied Dinah as fire dancers for the parade!
Noye’s fludde - Blackheath Halls, London
A dove and a raven, made entirely from found plastics. Each puppet was made for 5 puppeteers, each manipulating a single piece that made the whole when they came together.
Feathers, a story of chelm - London
The wise men of Chelm are known to be great fools, and these three minute puppets enacted the story of The Feathers for the Great Jewish Fete put on by Chabad Islington.
flutterby festival - auroville, india
The Flutterby Festival’s mascots were three large scale butterfly puppets, crafted primarily with PVC and fabric and puppeteered by three people each. These outsize butterflies each represented a native butterfly local to Auroville. Understandably, they lead the parade.
Victor vert & firey fiona - Auroville, India
The Unicorn Collective’s offering to Auroville’s Upcycle Festival in 2017, Victor and Fiona were both made entirely from recycled materials, from old saris to deconstructed potato sacks.
Children’s festival - Vancouver, Canada
Here be dragons! Under the mentorship of Tamara Unroe, a team of 6 fledgling puppeteer/makers created Brutus and Beatrice, two fabulous dragons that swept and swooped through Granville Island during the 2016 Children’s Festival! Made with fabric, foam, wire and PVC, each dragon flapped and flew with the aid of three puppeteers.
The Little Wanderer - Auroville, India
The Little Girl, or LG as she came to be known, was the puppet protagonist of The Little Wanderer: Down a Crooked Path with Red Shoes. Made primarily from papier-mache, she was helped to wander by Roeland Trauwaen’s hands-on puppetry.
